Overview of The 2023 Ford Maverick
The Ford Maverick might look like a compact pickup truck, but it's a true workhorse when it comes to capability and performance. It sets itself apart from other small trucks with its standard hybrid powertrain, and for 2023 a Tremor Off-Road model will delight adventure seekers. Here's a closer look at the 2023 Ford Maverick.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Maverick lineup starts with the XL. This trim has 17-inch steel wheels, power windows, and LED headlights with an automatic on/off feature. It also comes with lighting in the cargo bed and keyless entry. Just a step up to the XLT adds alloy wheels, windshield wiper-activated headlights, power-adjustable side mirrors, and a power tailgate lock. The top-level Lariat offers the Lariat Luxury Package with a spray-in bedliner. You can also get it with the 4K Towing Package or the FX4 Off-Road package with all-terrain tires. The new Tremor Off-Road Package adds skid plates, an off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, and exterior badging.
Engine (Power)
The Maverick's standard hybrid powertrain has a 2.5-liter gas engine and a single electric motor. These combine to deliver 191 horsepower. This setup uses a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine is the other option. It generates 250 horsepower and uses an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is also available with this powertrain.
Performance
Pickup trucks are about getting the job done, and the Maverick stands up to the challenge. It can tow up to 4,000 pounds with the turbo engine and 2,000 pounds with the hybrid. An optional Tremor Package gives it legitimate off-road chops by way of a trail control system to help drivers conquer rough terrain, and it adds a 1-inch lift. The gas engine may have more power, but the hybrid is super fuel efficient, getting up to 42 mpg in the city.
Interior
There are two rows of seats in the Maverick. The base trim has cloth upholstery, storage under the rear seats, and power windows. Stepping up to the XLT upgrades the upholstery and adds a center armrest in the back seat. The Lariat comes with faux leather upholstery and a power-adjustable driver's seat, and it offers the Luxury Package with heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
Technology features in the Maverick start with an 8-inch touchscreen, a six-speaker stereo, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. You'll get two USB ports in the back seat of the Lariat and the option for two power outlets, wireless charging, and a B&O stereo system.
Safety Features
Every 2023 Ford Maverick has active and passive safety systems. It comes standard with a rearview camera, a full suite of airbags, traction and stability control, trailer sway control, a forward collision warning system, automatic high-beam headlights, and pedestrian detection. It also comes with automatic braking and a tire pressure monitor. The Lariat adds the Ford Co-Pilot Assist Package that adds to the safety systems with adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, lane-centering, and rear parking sensors.
