Trying to stretch your gas budget? Good news. You’ve got not one, not two, but four Ford hybrid options to choose from. Here’s a brief overview of each.
Ford Hybrid Options Worth Exploring
Maverick Hybrid
A 40+ mpg truck has a name, and that name is the Maverick Hybrid. According to the EPA, front-wheel drive models of this feisty five-seater are good for 42 mpg in the city and 35 on the highway. All-wheel drive variants are rated at 40 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.
Both AWD and FWD versions offer a 1500-pound payload capacity and 2,000-pound towing capacity, but the former can be optioned with the towing package, which pushes the towing capacity to 4,000 pounds. Out back, a 4.5-foot bed awaits. You can slide in up to 18 sheets of four-by-eight three-quarter-inch plywood without tipping them or wrestling them into place.
F-150 Hybrid
The F-150 Hybrid brings even more bragging rights to the truck’s already loaded resume. First up is, of course, fuel efficiency. At 22 mpg and 24 mpg highway, this model is the most efficient F-150 you can get. Next comes raw power. Thanks to the combined power of gas and electric energy, this hybrid delivers a maximum towing capacity of 11,500 pounds, a 1,755-pound towing rating, 430 horsepower, and a whopping 570 pound-feet of torque.
Opting for this vehicle also unlocks the most powerful version of Pro Power Onboard. That’s 7.2 kWh of exportable power, enough to run big-boy tools(e.g. a 4000W welder or a G6 air compressor) and tailgate setups.
Escape ST-Line Elite Hybrid
Trucks aren’t the only ones getting all the hybrid love. The Escape ST-Line Elite Hybrid brings the same smart efficiency to the SUV crowd. Whether you go with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, you’ll get up to 42 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway.
And since this one’s built for family life, you can count on plenty of comfort and features to keep everyone happy. There’s lots of room for your stuff, too. This SUV can fit up to eight carry-on suitcases with the rear seats in place and 21 when you fold everything down.
Escape Plug-In Hybrid
The fuel efficiency of the previous Escape model is undoubtedly great, but if you’re looking to save even more, the plug-in hybrid variant is the way to go. It gets up to 37 miles of electric-only range, so if your daily drive falls within that, you might not see a gas station for weeks. On gas-only mode, this SUV gets 40 miles per gallon combined. Not bad for when you forget to charge.
