1. Brighton Recreation Area

Situated at 6360 Chilson Rd, Brighton Recreation Area offers an expansive playground spanning 4,947 acres, where outdoor enthusiasts can indulge in many recreational activities. With an extensive network of 39 miles of trails, the area is a paradise for hiking, mountain biking, and skiing enthusiasts. Horse riding enthusiasts can also explore the beautiful trails on horseback. If you’d like to extend your stay, this place offers three campgrounds for a memorable outdoor camping experience.

2. Lake Chemung

Lake Chemung is located at 5205 E Grand River Ave and offers a serene oasis for nature lovers in Howell. As you drive to this location, prepare to be captivated by the picturesque lake views that greet you upon arrival. You can do several things here, including strolling along the shoreline and watching graceful swans glide across the water.

If you’re a fishing enthusiast, you can cast your line into the calm waters and reel in excitement as you wait for a tug. Those who love kayaking can also bring their equipment along. Lake Chemung is an excellent spot if you’re looking to embrace the beauty of nature while enjoying beautiful lake views.

3. West Street

Located in a residential neighborhood at 500-624 Factory St, West Street boasts several amenities. There’s a fantastic playground and play structures to keep the little ones entertained for hours. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a friendly game of volleyball or basketball on the courts available.

And if you need a place to relax and enjoy a meal, West Street offers picnic tables, a gazebo, and even a grill for those tasty barbecues. Plus, if you’re in the mood for some open space fun, the expansive empty field is ideal for soccer or a lively game of tag.

4. Fillmore County Park

Fillmore County Park is located at 7075 McClements Rd in Brighton (about 7.3 miles from Howell). You can lace up your sneakers and hit the scenic 5K trail, which is ideal for walking or running. Plus, dogs are welcome on this trail, so feel free to bring Fido along for a pleasant walk. There’s also a multi-purpose sports field, which we recommend checking out if you’re in the mood for some friendly competition.
